Ever since I met Brooklyn based industrial designer Joey Roth about a year ago, he has been working on the Sorapot. Seeing it go from handmade prototype to final product has been fun. Roth's take on this common home ware balances function with well thought out design. I really like the glass body which allows you to watch the tea leaves brew in the hot water. The 50s science lab references of glass and metal have a touch of humor without being ironic. This feat is something that current modern design fails to achieve or even attempt. Even the presentation of the directions on using the Sorapot are in lockstep with the pot. This first run limited edition of only 300 tea pots retail for $179. Get the goods while the goods are worth getting.
